Frequently Asked Questions
Besides building, what other ways can someone get involved with Habitat for Humanity?
We have many volunteer opportunities besides construction: family partnership, family selection, public speaking, office work, site selection, running of fundraising events, and much more.
Can young people volunteer?
Yes! Due to OSHA and insurance requirements, the minimum age for youth volunteers is 16 years old to be on the job site. Habitat also requires that all construction volunteers aged 16 and 17 are accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times while volunteering at the work site.
Do I need to be an experienced builder to volunteer in construction?
Habitat will provide tools and training to any willing volunteer, skilled or unskilled. Construction experience is not a requirement.
Where do you build?
We build where we can locate the land resources to build. We have projects planned for many communities in Yuba and Sutter Counties.
How often do you build?
Habitat for Humanity has several building projects beginning now. You can usually count on a build happening on most Saturdays.
Habitat reserves the right to ask for proof of age. Volunteers 18 and older can do all volunteer tasks.
